Onika is a Paralegal with substantial experience in criminal defence and early-stage representation. She holds an LLB and LPC and began her legal career as a paralegal and proofreader for legislative drafters, contributing to legislation that was later produced, scrutinised and debated in Parliament. This role required exceptional precision, analytical rigour and attention to detail, forming a strong foundation for complex and high-stakes legal work.

Onika has several years experience across both legal aid and private criminal defence, working as a caseworker and paralegal. She is highly experienced in reviewing complex case files, taking detailed instructions and preparing matters for progression, including drafting instructions to counsel, solicitors and experts. In private practice, she worked closely with clients with complex needs, ensuring cases were prepared with care, clarity and precision.

She is a police station accredited representative with significant experience advising and representing clients at the earliest and most critical stage of criminal investigations. Onika approaches this work strategically, with a focus on achieving early outcomes and carefully protecting a clients position should proceedings follow.

Deeply committed to criminal defence, Onika approaches her work with empathy, precision and focus, grounded in disciplined analysis, careful listening and meticulous preparation. Outside of work, she enjoys an active lifestyle, including gym training, swimming and boxing and has a strong appreciation for jazz, art, painting and baking.
