Heather’s journey with HA began over 20 years ago when she first worked alongside Adam Rasul. After developing a wealth of experience in criminal law, she has now returned to the firm as a Senior Criminal Caseworker, bringing with her more than 25 years of expertise.
She spent over 12 years at one of Manchester’s leading criminal practices, where she managed complex caseloads involving serious crime, including high-profile matters, fraud and white-collar crime. During this time, she built a strong reputation for supporting vulnerable clients, particularly those experiencing mental health difficulties.
After taking time out of law to pursue other ventures and raise her children, Heather retrained and qualified as an Accredited Mental Health Panel member. In this role, she specialised in Mental Health Law, representing individuals detained under the Mental Health Act before Tribunals, most often in crisis and at their most vulnerable.
Her passion for criminal law eventually brought her back to HA, where she now leads our Crown Court department. Heather manages some of our most serious cases while also supporting the Head of Crime with systems, compliance, staff training and day-to-day operations.
Known for her down-to-earth nature, approachable style and no-nonsense approach, Heather has a tenacious and methodical approach to her preparation she is success-driven and highly analytical. She has strong connections with counsel, solicitors and experts and is widely respected for her robust advocacy within the Mental Health arena and unwavering commitment to justice. Her expertise in Mental Health Law, combined with personal life experiences, has given her an exceptional depth of empathy, compassion and understanding.
Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time with her two children and values family and friends above everything. She has a passion for interior design and DIY, has recently discovered a love of gardening and is an active advocate for raising awareness around organ donation and transplantation.
