Imran Shafi QC

Queen's Counsel

Imran is widely regarded as one of the leading criminal barristers in the country.

In recognition of his ability and experience he has been appointed to the rank of Queen’s Counsel and a Recorder of the Crown Court (Part-time Crown Court Judge).

Imran and our Senior Partner, Adam Rasul, have worked with one another since 2003. Together they have risen to the top of their field. Coincidentally they both grew up within miles of one another.

Anyone instructing them will benefit from their pre-existing personal and professional relationship forged over the past 18 years. They are completely dedicated to their clients and are relentless in seeking to secure the most favourable outcome for their clients. Time and again they have exceeded expectations and delivered outstanding results. Needless to say they form a formidable top tier defence team.

Imran is only instructed in the most serious criminal matters and has appeared in numerous ground-breaking cases. A dozen or so of his Court of Appeal cases are reported in the leading criminal textbooks. He is currently engaged in the landmark and leading Encrochat test case challenging the admissibility of the evidence.

Holborn Adams and the team regularly instruct him for his legal knowledge, his performances in court and his incredible work ethic.

He strives to do his utmost to represent his clients to the best of his ability and achieves great results.

He is renowned for his track record of having cases discontinued, dismissed and successfully applying to exclude evidence.

He builds a great rapport with everyone from clients to solicitors through to Judges. Treating everyone with courtesy and respect. Despite his fearsome intellect he is very down to earth and approachable.

Imran is recognised for his strength in fraud, murder, terrorism, serious drugs conspiracies, gang violence and large-scale immigration facilitation cases.

He is available to represent or advise clients both pre-charge and once proceedings have commenced.
